Concert Photography
The story of how I got lucky.
Back in the Day...
The year was 2000, I went to a Donna's concert at a small venue in Deep Vellum to take a few concert photos. I happened to come across a young and ambitious guy. Paul Salfen was working to create a web page that would showcase concert reviews and photos. We started chatting and he asked if I would be interested in photographing more concerts. I have always had a great interest and was excited to take the opportunity.
To be honest, I wasn't sure if it would truly pan out.
Like I said, Paul was ambitious. He was able to get me into almost any concert I wanted to photograph. For the next 5 years I would go to shows, some all day some just evenings, and what in the wings for the bands to go on.
The rule was usually "3 songs, no flash."
It was an adrenaline rush.
It came to an end as I got to a point where going out to concert venues late at night was just too much for me.
But I do miss it. Here are some pictures from that time in my life.
